Every year, our team is thrilled to award an I-95 Toyota scholarship to a deserving student. This year’s recipient is Hayden Strehle of Golden Isles College and Career Academy (GICCA), who was presented with his $1,000 I-95 Toyota Tools and Equipment Grant by Kenny Sims and Janel Schwartz on May 8th, 2024, in Brunswick, GA. He was one of several classmates also accepting scholarship awards, and we extend congratulations to them, as well.
Hayden was selected for this particular grant not only for his impressive work at the Academy but for his dedication as a Work Based Learning Student with Yancey Brothers Caterpillar, a heavy equipment dealer that has been a well-known figure in Georgia since 1914 due to the way their parts, products, and services contribute to the state construction, mining, aggregate, forestry, agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation industries.
Hayden’s experiences learning about welding and machining are significant steps toward his goal to work at Yancey Brothers Caterpillar after graduation and to become a Field Technician by the time he turns 20. We look forward to seeing all that he will accomplish!
This Toyota scholarship was first conceived of in 2023 when I-95 Toyota of Brunswick decided to donate a percentage of its monthly car sales towards bettering the community. As such, it formed a relationship with GICCA, a well-known public charter school that prepares high school students for college and provides college programs to students of all ages with a focus on occupational disciplines.
This team-up would proudly make I-95 Toyota one of the Academy’s largest Forging Partners sponsors. While this scholarship doesn’t have a long history, we believe it will have a bright future as we aim to shine a spotlight on more young men and women with a passion for hard work and hands-on career paths.
